What do you choose to speak?

You will say the wrong thing if you talk too much--so be sensible and watch what you say.
Proverbs 10:19 (CEV)
Have you experienced that words have a great power to transform us? I guess you will all agree. But what if I say, we are fools when we talk too much? Do you still agree?
W O R D S….Humans and words are inseparable. We think with words, we communicate through words, we brag with words, we show our emotions through words. Whatever we see, wherever we go and whatever we think is all consumed by words. Words are just scattered everywhere that we cannot skip or reject it, thus playing a vital role.
In James 3:2 it says, All of us do many wrong things. But if you can control your tongue, you are mature and able to control your whole body (CEV). The tongue is compared to the horses and ships. When we put a bit in the mouth of a horse, it can be controlled so as a very large ship can be turned or controlled by a rudder. Likewise, it is written that if the tongue is controlled, our whole body is controlled.
But why to control it?
In this free world, we have the right to speak what we think. But the words that we speak has the power of life and death. Our tongue shows who we are and what is lying beneath our hearts. Good people bring good things out of their hearts, but evil people bring evil things out of their hearts. (Mathew 12: 35) We don’t often realize the aftermath until we see it happening. It is really surprising that such a small part of our body has so much power. Sometimes it just gets out of control and what comes out of it are exaggeration, pride, worldly success, possessions that we own. These are nothing but temporary. It is very sad to see that we put priorities to these perishable things which are of no use. The Bible says that there are much more worthy things stored up for us and this does not nurture our soul.
In this pandemic, we all realized that money, power or possessions cannot stop the nature from destroying us. It doesn’t matter what we have but…what we are and who we are matters.
Are we boastful? Are we proud? Are we blessing and cursing with the same mouth? Does our words break or make others? Do we trust in ourselves or the ultimate creator?
Just take a moment and think…
The Bible says, to portray oneself to be wise or sensible, one has to show that through their behavior and not in words. Being humble and living right can surely mend our soul. Anything that comes from devil possess lies and bragging. But God-given wisdom is pure, friendly, gentle, sensible, kind, helpful, genuine, and sincere. (v.17)
As humans we show our wisdom and knowledge through words but what amazes me is that the Bible is so contradictory that it says if you want to prove yourself wise, don’t speak but show it in your works. Can we just treat others how we wanted us to be treated?
More precisely – Love others as much as you love yourself. This can save us from all evil doings. This is what humanity is.
I have done things that I regret and uttered words that cannot be taken back. To think back now, I was not wise and was carried away with all worldly deeds. It has taught me so much that I am glad I realized it, now working myself to be a better person each day.
The most important thing is that on the Day of Judgment, Jesus tells us that we are accountable for every careless word that we uttered and we will know who is guilty or who is innocent based on what we spoke. Terrifying, right?
So instead of taking words for granted, let us just be slow to speak and wise in our actions. Before we utter anything, just remember this:
If the words you spoke appeared on your skin, would you still be beautiful?
I hope this made your day as I always say!
Wonderful Words!!!
Great share!✨
